If you’re tired of looking older than you are and you want to get rid of your sagging skin and hollow cheeks, a facelift surgery is a great option to consider. The facelift is the perfect way to restore your youthful beauty to your face. It’s extremely safe and offers results that are dramatic yet natural.
Traditional Facelift Procedure
A traditional facelift is a full-facelift surgery that focuses on the mid and lower parts of the face, along with the neck. Here, unlike in other facelift surgeries, the entire face is lifted by operating on the sagging mid and lower parts of the face.
If you’re looking to reduce fine lines and sun damage, this procedure isn’t the right solution for you. Instead, the traditional facelift is ideal if you wish to treat:
• Sagging cheeks
• Double chin
• Loose skin at the jowls
• Deep folds at the corners of the nose and mouth
• Excessive folds of skin on the neck
In the facelift surgery, Dr. Somenek will remove excess fat and skin from the face and will tighten the muscle tissue. This gives the face a younger appearance.
The Consultation
The first stage of the traditional facelift is the consultation. Dr. Somenek will evaluate your face to understand your eligibility for the facelift surgery. Ideally, the facelift is perfect for anyone above the age of 30 who wishes to address loose and sagging facial skin and muscles.
During the consultation, let the doctor know about any medications that you’re on currently, as this will help him decide the anesthesia and post-surgical medication to be prescribed. It will also be necessary to discuss your medical history, including any allergies you may have.
If you suffer from any dermatological conditions that may be aggravated by the surgery, it is best to speak with Dr. Somenek about these.
The Facelift Surgery
Dr. Somenek will start the traditional facelift surgery by administering anesthesia. Next, he will make an incision in your hairline near the temples. This incision goes around the earlobe down to the hairline behind the ear. An incision may also be made under the chin.
Next, he will tighten the loose sagging tissues of the face and lift the areas of the face that need lifting. He will then remove excess skin and tightly pull back the skin over the face. Using medical-grade sutures, he will firmly stitch the skin back in place, closing the incisions.
Recovery Care
After surgery, you will experience a degree of swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising in the face. These will reduce soon and will continue to ameliorate a week or two after the surgery.
Do not wash your face with hot water for at least one week, and avoid making too many facial expressions for a few days. Once the stitches are removed during a follow-up and the incisions have fully healed, your face will look younger and more beautiful.
