Redefining Outpatient Surgery
Welcome to the Somenek + Pittman MD Surgical Suite, the newest facility of its kind in Washington, DC. In designing and building their new surgical suite, Dr. Michael Somenek and Dr. Troy Pittman have curated a luxury experience with the ability to deliver high-quality concierge care throughout the entire patient encounter. There is no longer a need to go to a busy hospital for surgery. Every detail has been curated to provide safe, patient centered care with the utmost privacy and discretion.
The Day Of Surgery – What To Expect
On the day of surgery, you report directly to the Surgical Suite entrance which is Suite 501 (the suite directly in front of you when you get off the elevator on the 5th floor). Once in the waiting room, you pick up the courtesy phone which will directly ring the nurses station. You are greeted by a nurse that personally escorts you through the pre and post-op process.
The space itself is calming and expansive with a ton of natural light. You will recognize the signature scent and music that you’ve come to associate with the S + P brand in the office. Once settled in the pre-op area, you will meet with your anesthesiologist who will be with you during the entire surgery. You will also meet with either Dr. Somenek or Dr. Pittman who will complete your surgical markings before being escorted to the operating room.
Following your procedure, you are escorted to the recovery room. Our top priority in recovery is assuring your comfort. Once recovered, you are escorted by your nurse, through a private exit, directly to your waiting companion or family member.
A Commitment To Safety
Our Surgical Suite is fully-accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF or QUAD A). Accreditation assures the public that extra steps have been taken to promote patient safety. We are proud to have received a 100% compliance score every year.
QUAD A accreditation programs help facilities demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, standardize quality, maintain fiscal responsibility, promote services to patients, and collaborate with other health care leaders.
QUAD A provides official recognition to facilities that have met 100% of its high standards. Accreditation assures the public that patient safety is top priority in a facility.
An accredited facility is re-evaluated through a self-survey every year, and an onsite survey every three years. Facilities must continuously comply with all QUAD A accreditation standards between surveys. Upon approval, an accredited facility must prominently display its accreditation certificate in public view.
Additionally, the operating rooms have been outfitted with needlepoint bipolar ionization technology to filter and deliver the cleanest air possible (think next generation HEPA filters).
Our physician anesthesiologists are present throughout the entire operation and play an active role in the initial evaluation and recovery of our patients. The nursing staff are all highly experienced in peri-operative care and have had several years experience in the city’s large medical centers.
Recover In Luxury
Many of our patients choose to recover in the beautiful Fairmont Hotel which is steps from our surgical suite and office. The hotel stay allows patients to peacefully recover while enjoying tea service delivery the evening of surgery and chicken noodle soup the morning after. Private nursing care can also be arranged. The additional benefit of having our patients at the Fairmont is that we are able to personally visit them the morning after surgery.
