The Facelift Procedure
Facelift surgery is performed in our private surgical suite under general anesthesia. An assistant will shave the hair around the ears and temples, scrub the area being operated on, and then Dr. Somenek will make tiny incisions along the hairline and above the ears. Loose skin is surgically separated from the underlying tissue and pulled back, the excess skin is removed, and the muscles and connective tissues in the face are tightened. Dr. Somenek uses a series of tiny sutures to close the incisions, which typically dissolve on their own. The incision sites are placed in areas where scars will not be very noticeable, such as along the sideburns or beard lines.
What is a Facelift Recovery Like?
After a NoVa facelift surgery, your operative area will be bandaged for a few days. You will be given post-operative instructions and prescribed pain medications and antibiotics to manage inflammation and prevent infection. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities.
Typically, we remove the sutures in a week or so, and scarring, swelling, and bruising will subside within two weeks, depending on the extent of the procedure. It is highly recommended that you stay out of the sun for several weeks after surgery and refrain from smoking.
