A facelift is a surgical procedure that gives patients a more refreshed and youthful look. Through this treatment, a number of facial wrinkles can be smoothed away. The facelift addresses a sagging chin and cheeks and also takes care of the neck. The best facelifts should make you look natural, as if nothing has happened beyond rest and relaxation.
What Makes Facelifts Unique?
What make facelifts unique compared to other facial-rejuvenation options is that they offer long-lasting revitalization for the mid and lower face that allows a person to look up to 10 years younger.
Minimally invasive and non-invasive treatments often cannot match […]
After a rhinoplasty procedure, patients may be unsatisfied with their results. When these results need to be corrected surgically, revision rhinoplasty can be performed. Also known as secondary rhinoplasty, this procedure is an excellent way to correct aesthetic nasal issues, further accentuate the nose’s contours, or treat new functional problems.
Why Would a Patient Need Revision Rhinoplasty?
Revision rhinoplasty may be sought for many reasons. When an imbalance is created through surgery or if the reshaping is not satisfactory, patients may choose corrective measures. An imbalance is created when the reshaping of the nose doesn’t fit the overall facial features or when there are […]
As we age, the muscles that support our eyelids tend to weaken and the skin around our eyes loosens, giving us droopy eyes and undereye bags. This can make you look a lot older than you actually are and can even result in vision problems.
These are common issues faced by men and women all over the world. Fortunately, with blepharoplasty, you can say goodbye to the dull, tired appearance caused by drooping upper lids, wrinkles, and undereye bags.
What Is Blepharoplasty and How Does It Work?
Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a procedure where Dr. Somenek removes excess skin, fat, and […]
In my previous blog, I discussed the various grades of capsular contracture and the proposed causes of capsular contracture. Let’s now take a look at prevention and treatment of this condition.
Can capsular contracture be prevented?
In many cases, the formation of capsular contracture is random and could be considered “bad luck.” However, there are many steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of developing the condition.
Careful patient selection. Patients that have a history of severe scar formation or adhesion formation after abdominal surgery should be counseled on the increased risk of developing capsular contracture. Additionally, patients at high-risk for developing […]
What is capsular contracture?
The formation of a capsule around a breast implant is part of normal wound healing. The body’s natural response to a foreign object is to form a thin layer of scar tissue around the implant. However, in capsular contracture, that thin layer of scar tissue becomes thicker and causes a problem in women with breast implants. There are 4 grades of capsular contracture:
Grade 1 – This is the normal response to the breast implant. The capsule is soft and the presence of the capsule is imperceptible to the patient or her plastic surgeon.
Grade 2 – There is […]
Traditional fat-grafting practices were initially restricted to structural grafts, which were used for addressing injuries and scarring rather than improving appearance and shape. Through advancements in medical technologies, fat grafting has become a staple of the cosmetic industry.
Facial face grafting is a simple and effective way to fill in various signs of aging, such as moderate to deep wrinkles, crow’s feet and other shallow wrinkles, hollow areas, and scars. Fat grafts create new volume, and they also have the ability to cause healing and regrowth of tissues, since they contain stem cells.
The fat that is used is autologous (meaning taken […]
As time takes its toll on a person’s skin, the face is the first area to show the signs of aging. When you look in the mirror, you may begin to notice vertical lines between your eyebrows and horizontal lines on your forehead.
The reason why these lines appear is due to repeated facial expressions and movements, which cause the muscles to contract and stay contracted. As a result of this, a person may look older than their actual age, which can affect their self-confidence.
Earlier, the only option patients had was to undergo a conventional brow lift. Now, patients can undergo […]
Sculptra is a new type of injectable filler on the market that’s used to remove wrinkles from the face. It is made with poly-L-lactic acid, which boosts collagen production in your skin when injected. The poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra is synthetic in nature and is biodegradable and safe for use.
Why I Use Sculptra in My Practice
Sculptra offers my patients results that can last for a long time. When I apply Sculptra for removing wrinkles, my patients don’t have to worry about retouch sessions every few months once their initial treatment is over. They can maintain their restored youthful glow with repeat […]
As Royal Wedding fever takes hold, so has a new fashion trend. Women wanting the “Markle sparkle” have been going to their doctors asking for surgery to give them Meghan’s nose. The glamorous 36-year-old US actor’s engagement to the UK’s Prince Harry was announced last November.
Before then, the most popular celebrity nose was Kim Kardashian’s very straight look. But since the engagement, women have been going to their doctors with pictures of Meghan’s nose and asking how they can look like her.
Why Patients Are Asking for Meghan Markle’s Nose
When I was interviewed by Angie Goff on NBC4’s Washington Today, I talked about […]
Ear Surgery or, Otoplasty, is performed to improve the appearance of the ears when they are overly prominent or stick out from the sides of the head. Children with overly prominent ears are often made the target teasing by their peers and this teasing can damage their self-esteem well into adulthood. Children typically as young as 6 and up are eligible for ear surgery and it is often recommended that the procedure be performed early on as the cartilage is more malleable. That said, teens and adults can also benefit from the procedure.
The potentially dramatic results obtained from this relatively minor surgery, […]
