Brow Lift in Washington, DC

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure that is meant to elevate a brow to a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing position. It helps to reduce the heaviness of the eyelids and wrinkling of the forehead.

A brow lift is frequently combined with procedures of the eyelids, also known as blepharoplasty or an eyelid lift. A browlift can also be indicated for patient undergoing facial rejuvenation surgery, which includes a facelift or necklift. During your consultation, Dr. Somenek will perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine the best procedure for you.

Dr. Somenek has a broad knowledge of all the techniques used to elevate the brow. He routinely performs a minimally invasive brow lift which conceals a series of small incisions behind the hairline. This provides a quick recovery with natural, beautiful results. A Washington DC brow lift procedure can help give you the youthful look that you desire.

The Brow Lift Procedure

The procedure typically takes 1-2 hours when performed by itself. There are several techniques that can be used to achieve the desired results. This is decided on an individual basis during the consultation with Dr. Somenek. There are several techniques that Dr. Somenek uses to perform a brow lift.

The most frequent procedure is the endoscopic, minimally invasive brow lift. This involves placing small incisions that are concealed behind the hairline and using tiny scopes to maximize visualization while minimizing the size and extent of incisions in the scalp. After the brow is raised to the desired extent, it is secured by small absorbable screws into the forehead.

The procedure is ideal for the patient that does not have a disproportionate amount of skin that needs to be elevated and for those that desire minimal incisions that are well concealed.

Other techniques that Dr. Somenek uses include a limited incision browlift and mid-forehead lift. During your initial consultation, Dr. Somenek will evaluate the forehead and decide which technique is appropriate for you.

Things to Know After Surgery

Patients will experience a certain amount of swelling and bruising in the 10-day period following surgery. Depending on if the procedure was performed with blepharoplasty or facelift, this condition may include the cheek and eye area as well as the forehead.

Dr. Somenek advises you to keep your head elevated and use cold compresses to reduce swelling. As the incisions heal, you may experience some numbness as well as itching, both of which will diminish with time.

The sutures are removed within seven days and the dressing three days following surgery. For most patients, the recovery time lasts between 1-2 weeks.
