They are less prone to rupture, and modern material advancements have created a silicone filler that does not leak but stays together if torn.

Saline – While perhaps not as realistic feeling as silicone, saline still has some advantages. Since saline implants are filled once the shell is implanted in the breast, it requires a much smaller incision and less breast tissue than silicone to be successful. However, since saline implants have a more fluid feel, they are prone to having a rippled look around the edges and if there is a leak or rupture, they will quickly deflate.
