Beautiful breasts come in all sizes. What matters most is how they are shaped. If you are unhappy with the shape of your breasts, how proportionate they are, or if you want to give your sagging breasts an uplifted appearance, then a breast lift is the ideal solution that will provide you with a perfect, symmetrical pair of youthful breasts.
What is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift, also commonly known as a mastopexy, is a surgical technique that lifts and reshapes the breasts to yield a much more cosmetically delightful result. This surgery is ideal for women who have sagging and disproportionate breasts. It’s designed to give them a more symmetrical appearance with youthful contours.
Common Reasons Why Women Undergo a Breast Lift
Women commonly undergo a breast lift surgery to:
- Improve droopy breasts, including elongated, pendulous breasts.
- Get rid of excess, saggy skin that develops after a pregnancy.
- Correct the position of the areola and nipple.
- Reverse the signs of aging and give the breasts a more youthful and attractive appearance.
What Does the Procedure Entail?
During a breast lift, extra skin from the breast is removed and the surrounding tissue is reshaped and tightened to give them a firmer look. The surgeon may move the position of the breast so that it sits higher on the chest. In addition, the nipple and areola can be repositioned to better fit the new shape of the breasts as well. The size of the areola can also be modified in cases it appears too large.
Overall, the end result will be a more youthful bust with aesthetically pleasing contours. Traditionally, a mastopexy does not change the size of the breast, however, it can be combined with a breast reduction or augmentation.
The cornerstone of our practice is to develop a couture surgical plan for each patient based on their overall needs, desires and anatomy.  Prior to the surgery, Dr. Pittman will use the Crisalix imaging system [add hyperlink] to simulate the appearance of your breasts after surgery.
You may be required to discontinue any medication and undergo a mammogram before the procedure as well.
Are You a Breast Lift Candidate?
The best candidates for a breast lift surgery are women who are unhappy with the shape of their breasts. Whether you have excess sagging skin or you have disproportionate breasts, this surgery can help you get rid of those issues and experience what it’s like to have perky and uplifted breasts.
Potential patients should be in good general health and ready to follow any instructions given. This includes, but not limited to ceasing the use of certain medications and tobacco for several weeks before and after the surgery.
What is the Recovery Period like?
Right after the procedure is completed, your breasts will be bandaged and you may be instructed to wear a support bra for a week or longer.
The most common after-effects experienced by patients are relegated to soreness, swelling, and bruising but these issues will subside quickly. You will be advised to stay away from strenuous physical activity for at least 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure.
